Did you know that a large part of our mission is to place Community Service Dogs in children’s hospitals and other medical facilities across the country? This year has certainly brought on some challenges for our organization, but we are proud to say we have been able to continue to bring joy, comfort and wagging tails to children in need by placing several community service dogs the past several months in a safe, social distanced way. When children must be in the hospital, ...away from their family due to illness, it can be a scary and unsettling time, but having a furry friend by their side can help ease anxiety and fear. Preparing a community service dog for this very big job is not an inexpensive task and before being placed, Canine Assistants assumes all financial responsibilities including feeding, medical care and volunteer tools necessary to prepare our dogs for the hospital environment.
