The SafeHouse will open both nights to provide Emergency Warming Station to any and all in need of shelter from this emergency.... The Verge Church will also open both nights. They dispatch a van to move around the community to pick up anyone out of doors in need of shelter. Please help us get the word out. As always the SafeHouse needs plenty of toilet paper, coffee and sugar to meet the expected increased demand on supplies throughout this emergency event. TRAINING EXERCISE! The Columbus Emergency Management Division in cooperation with Columbus State University and Ft. Benning Authorities will be conducting a hazardous materials incident exercise on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 9:00 am until 12:00. The exercise will be conducted on the property of the CSU Frank Brown School of Nursing Building at the corner of Broadway and 12th Street. The public may see smoke and simulated injuries along with decontamination procedures during this training event. Signage will be visible announcing that the event is a training exercise and authorities will be in the vicinity to reassure the public that this is only a drill.
