October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. Share your story. Say their names. We are here with you in remembering and honoring your little ones. #Repost @thejoyfulmorning with @get_repost Share your story. Raise your hand and tell your story. One of the best ways to raise awareness is to tell our stories. It provides healing in your own heart as you remember and celebrate the baby you love. It gives other women a chance to say "me too!" and find comfort know...ing they aren't alone. And it raises awareness about pregnancy and infant loss and in turn becomes a crucial step in preventing such loss in the future. So let's tell our stories this month! @megawalker put together a list of Daily Writing Prompts perfect to share here on social media, one prompt for each day during the month of October. Happy National Midwifery Week 2020! Spotlight on our midwife Amy Wells #decaturmidwifery #atlantagynob #midwivesmatter #NMW2020 #midwivesforequity #midwivesmakeadifference Why did you become a midwife? I've always been drawn to midwifery. As a kid, I heard my mom rave about the midwives who helped with my sister'sbirth and how much easier they made the whole experience. That's my main goal now: to help each client and their family through the childbearing process as... smoothly as possible. That’s also my approach with GYN care, from choosing a first contraceptive through menopause and everything in between. My focus is always on the unique needs/concerns of the client in front of me. What can I do to help them through this experience? To me, that's what being a midwife is all about! Random fact I love to sing! Being able to sing as part of a group is one of the main things I'm missing right now, due to the pandemic. What’s on your bucket list? seeing the Grand Canyon One thing you would bring to a deserted islanda good read! Your favorite emoji

Happy National Midwifery Week 2020! Spotlight on our midwife Julia Smookler #decaturmidwifery #atlantagynob #midwivesmatter #NMW2020 #midwivesforequity #midwivesmakeadifference Why did you become a midwife? I’ve always had a desire to nurture and care for people. When I was younger, I would volunteer in hospitals. I initially was on a path to become an optometrist. It wasn’t until my rotation in undergrad nursing, that I was introduced to women’s healthcare and the awe... of labor and delivery. That forever changed the course of my career to focus on what I loved the most, women’s healthcare. Midwifery is such an amazing profession that allows me to care for the whole woman. It has been so rewarding!! Random fact Love to hike, bike, and travel What’s on your bucket list? travel to countries that I haven’t traveled to yet! I’m honored to take care of us and to be a part of so many special mome...nts. Midwifery was calling me way before I knew what a midwife was. Random fact I like to run What’s on your bucket list?
