Bailey had a great go home session! Bailey is only 6 months old and is just as happy and wiggly as they come, so it’s very hard for her to contain all of that. We had to work a lot on her impulse control but boy did she come out fantastic. Rocket the Labrador went home after staying for 2 weeks to learn some manners and obedience! She came in being the typical hyperactive puppy, jumping, nipping, pulling on leash, and not knowing any commands. The children in the home couldn’t even play with her she was so rough. Now they can have their best friend and have fun with her!

Impulse control: Is a dog capable of not chasing critters? Is it capable of not getting over excited with other dogs? Is it capable of not being aggressive towards anyone? The answer is YES, it is capable!! If your dog is chasing things you don’t want them to chase, then the communication or discipline is not there. If he’s getting over excited or aggressive with anyone it’s because the communication and/or discipline is not there. If you don’t follow through on your rules, neither will your dog. Your dog will only become what you make them, what you expect of them!

This is a dog we had for adoption a while back and her owner can no longer provide her the home she needs. She was fully trained by us, socialized and well mannered. BUT she was born timid and will always be timid of new people. It’s just her and her genetics! She’s always been super sweet but takes her time to warm up to someone. Please read this as her owner needs to find her a new loving and understanding home for her.

Den/crate training is the best training tool to prevent learning bad or dangerous habits/behavior. Learn how to use it humanely. Drain your dogs energy before ...guiding them to go in one and they will learn to go there as a safe place to relax and take a break between active activities. Here’s one of our trail walks. We never just go straight through a trail, we take our time, practice recall to those that can be off leash and some random stops and commands. We are working Riddicks social skills along with making sure he can maintain obedience and good behavior while I have my personal dogs running around him. Socialization isn’t always interacting/playing. It’s about knowing limits and respecting boundaries. If a dog has a hard time doing that, we take a few steps back and they will watch the pack interact while respecting my rules and commands.
