Congratulations to the four RCPS seniors named 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program Commended Students: Alana Williamson of Salem High School, and Michaella... Cowin, Hayley Sanders, and Gabrielle Wood, all of Rockdale Magnet School for Science and Technology! About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2021 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). The RMSST Science Team WON NOSB’s Southern Stingray Bowl this Saturday after fielding 3 teams against schools from Alabama, South Carolina, and Georgia. Rockdale A: Margaret Hwang, Elizabeth Huynh, Hector Aguirre, Sydney Moodie, and Jackson Meyers Rockdale B: Courtney Melvin, Ava Bailey, Duc Le, Kayla Holland, and Alexa Apiyo Rockdale C: Michaella Cowin, Isabella Powell, Max Zhang, Trinity James, and Alan Nguyen... All 3 teams qualified for the quarterfinals and Rockdale A and B made to the finals. Rockdale B won in the championship round and will be representing RMSST and the Southern Stingray Bowl at 2021 NOSB Nationals. Please congratulate Courtney, Ava, Duc, Kayla, and Alexa and the rest of the RMSST Science Team for bringing the 1st place trophy to Magnet & earning a spot at Nationals!

We had so much fun celebrating our honor roll students at today’s drive thru celebration sponsored by Rockdale Magnet Fund. They each received a $10 Zaxby’s gift card, candy bar, and a certificate recognizing their hard work!
