Happy 133rd Birthday, Tybee Island! Here's a fun fact about Tybee: It was first incorporated in 1887 as the town of Ocean City, and was known as Savannah Beach during its heyday as a resort for the city of Savannah. Today, it is incorporated as the town of Tybee.

OATLAND ISLAND WILDLIFE CENTER IS REOPENING It's the news we've all been waiting for! Oatland Island Wildlife Center will reopen to members only o...n Thursday September 10th through September 13th. Hours will be 10am-4pm everyday. We will reopen to the general public on Monday September 14th. IMPORTANT INFO YOU NEED TO PLAN YOUR VISIT: Pre-registration is REQUIRED with timed entry windows. MEMBERS - check your email to find the promo code for free tickets with your current membership. Be prepared to show membership card on arrival. If you're a member and didn't receive the email, send us a message! The main building will be closed with the exception of the gift shop which will be open for cold drinks, snacks, bug spray, and souvenirs - Masks and temperature checks will be required to enter the gift shop. Restrooms will be available in the GA Barnyard area. We are so excited to see everyone, and so are all the animals of Oatland! See you on the trails! See more

It was quite a sight last evening when a shrimp boat was boarded by the Coast Guard for a routine check out in front of our pier. The dolphins put on quite a show around the shrimp boat for over an hour. I hope our residents and guests enjoyed the views!

Our nest #3 was inventoried today. We found 85 hatched eggs and 27 unpatched eggs. It is not uncommon to have eggs that don’t develop during the incubation period. There were 12 live babies in the nest, they were released to begin their long journey to the Gulf Stream.
