Dr. Stefane Raulerson, Director of Military and Veterans Services at Augusta University, was our guest speaker in Mrs. Fowler's Professional/Life Skills class today. Dr. Raulerson shared her story of overcoming socioeconomic obstacles in her life and staying in school to change the trajectory of her life, ultimately reaching her educational and career goals. Mrs. Fowler's class has been learning the importance of self-discipline in school and in work and Dr. Raulerson's story provided an example of this. #12forlife #24strong

Parents and students will be receiving an email with information about 12 for Life students’ W-2 and when the students will be able to file their 2020 taxes with us. Please be sure to read that email carefully. Southwire will be mailing 2020 W-2 tax documents to students within the next few days. The email contains information on how to access your W-2 immediately online through Southwire’s ADP platform. All questions and issues you have with the ADP login procedures a d W-2... information will need to be email to Nichole Martin at [email protected]. 12 for Life will be helping students file their taxes on Wednesday, February 10 and Thursday, February 11. Students who attend classes with us at the CCA- South campus will be given the opportunity to file their taxes during the school day. Students who attend school at their home school or virtually will be able to file their taxes at CCA-South on the same dates from 4pm-7pm. Much of this week some Southwire and CCA-South elves have been hard at work preparing care packages and stockings for students as we approached the holiday break. Dear 12 for Life Students and Families, Throughout the pandemic, Southwire has worked closely with Carroll County, Carrollton City, Haralson County, and Heard County school systems to make operating decisions that are in the best interest of the health and safety of our 12 for Life students. After much consideration, Southwire along with our partnering school systems have decided not bring students back to the 12-for-Life facility next semester (2021 spring semester). Our num...ber one priority is the health and safety of our students and their families. Southwire will continue to work with partnering school systems to provide essential items to help support you during this time. We will also be working to identify safe ways to continue our 12 for Life mentorship program. More information on this will be shared with you soon. We will closely monitor the COVID-19 situation through the first half of the year, and any further decisions regarding 12 for Life program will be discussed and agreed upon by leadership from Southwire and the school systems. Carroll County School System continues to monitor community data regarding the increase in COVID-19 cases in our area, and we have listened to feedback from our staff members. Out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to transition to Distance Learning at home for all students beginning on Monday, December 14 through Friday, December 18. We recognize that this is not the ideal situation. However, the health and well-being of our students and staff has and will continue ...to be our top priority during these challenging times. Students with Internet access, will need to access Google Classroom for more information about live instruction schedules and student assignments.
