Leading by example, over the past few days leadership from the 35th Theater Tactical Signal Brigade and the 67th Expeditionary Signal Battalion have volunteered to take the COVID-19 vaccine. COVID-19 vaccines have passed rigorous reviews and are highly effective. Scientists had a significant head start developing the COVID-19 vaccines. COVID-19 is very similar to other viruses, which already have vaccines.... Testing was thorough and successful. More than 70,000 people participated in clinical trials for the two vaccines to see if they are safe and effective. To date, the vaccines are nearly 95% effective in preventing COVID-19. There is no COVID-19 virus in the vaccine. The vaccine imitates the infection so that our bodies create antibody defenses to fight off COVID-19. The first vaccination phase includes but is not limited to healthcare personnel likely to be exposed to or treat people with COVID-19, first responders, people at risk for severe illness and other essential workers. Those who will be vaccinated in the first phase will be notified where to receive the vaccine. These sites will likely be at or near work and care sites. Side effects are mild, temporary, and normal signs that your body is building protection. You may experience pain and swelling in the arm of the injection. Throughout the rest of your body, you may experience fever, chills, tiredness, and headaches. #ProtectingTheForce #LionPride #leadingbyexample More information on the vaccine can be found at the following sites https://dph.georgia.gov/covid-vaccine https://www.cdc.gov/corona/2019-ncov/vaccines/8-things.html

#ThrowbackThursday: We're starting a new series to highlight major events and 67th Signal Battalion (Fort Gordon) Alumni in our unit's history! IN JANUARY 1989..., 67th ESB was called upon to deploy its new capabilities in support of large headquarters at major field training exercises through September 1990. The battalion had just been fielded Digital Group multiplex and TRI-TAC communications systems. #LightningForce Soldiers had just been testing the new communications systems for the U.S. Army Signal Center on Fort Gordon. #legacy #unithistory #Team67 #SignalCorps 35th Signal Brigade

On This Day in Signal History January 13, 1943 2nd Battalion’s signal capabilities were attacked by the Japanese during the Battle of Galloping Horse in World War II. Under the cover of night, Japanese infiltrators cut the telephone line between the 2nd Battalion and their regimental headquarters, greatly affecting unit communications. Despite communications being cut, the Americans renewed their attack the next day. Our job as Signaleers is vital to the Army’s communication... and success. The enemy knows this and will work to disrupt us from doing our job but we will not let them. Some of other fun facts in signal history that happened today: 1906 - The first radio set advertised claimed to receive signals up to one mile. It was the Telimco for $7.50 in Scientific American. 1910 - The birth of public radio broadcasting is credited to Lee de Forest who transmitted the world’s first public broadcast in New York City.
