Rich and his crew of gentlemen were simply the best group of guys that could be assembled and made an amazing experience out of one of the potentially hardest p...arts of moving. They were a true pleasure to work with, and I will be telling everyone who will listen about them. It basically poured rain for the entirety of our move from the old house to the new one, but they never stopped, never complained, and always made sure that all of our stuff was dry and protected. It was a very interesting week for our moving company. Sunday was awesome. Rich had a half day with the crew. Client was (of course) very happy and promised a glowing review. So just drop off the trailer at storage and head home to finish Paul Rudd's new Netflix series. Monday: very different. An urgent call from the facility's manager telling us that she thought our trailer is on fire. Indeed it was. This is the supply trailer containing nearly all of our moving suppl...ies and tools. The firemen set about cutting holes in the areas that weren't melting from the heat in order to get water onto the fire. The furniture pads, around 200 of them were seriously difficult to extinguish as they had been smoldering for 24 hours. The firemen pulled them out with their fireman hook and put them out practically one at a time. The pre-school on the other side of the fence had to be evacuated. Needless to say, it was a total loss. The fire marshal deemed it "undetermined". Fast forward to today. As you can see in the final picture, we replaced the trailer and nearly all of our moving supplies. Ready to get right back to work. After some contemplation this week we are feeling pretty grateful. One: the tenants on either side of us had their vehicles out of their spaces so no damage there. Two: the canopies of the pine trees directly above did not catch fire (picture Sherman's march). Three: somehow the ancient fence, which is basically kindling, didn't sustain any damage. Four: the firemen were quick to respond. Coincidentally, the storage manager was doing her walk-through of the property Lastly, nobody was hurt. Not any of our crew, not us, not the fireman, and, thank God, none of the children playing just feet away on the other side of the fence.
