AD&A Rising Stars

Good morning and welcome to AD&A Rising Stars fan page.

Adolescents Determined and Achieving is a 501c3 non-profit organization that works to fill gaps in basic needs like shelter, food and clothing in the lives of disenfranchised youth. The organization was established in 2016 by Founder and Executive Director, Aljierita Kendrick-Weems who attended Benjamin E. Mays High School and now has served as a volunteer for over 4 years. In response to the fact that approximately 25 to 30 percent of students per grade level need help with ...basic needs like shelter, food and clothing, which interferes with academic achievement. AD&A Rising Stars founder Kendrick-Weems, began to work with students individually to help make a difference in their lives. To date she has assisted more than 10 students and their families facing challenging life issues like being homeless. Her goal is to grow that number exponentially, by adopting additional elementary, middle and high school students. In partnership with other Atlanta based non-profit organizations also created to support the personal and academic development and achievement of youth, such as Positive American Youth USA and Super Single Momz, AD&A Rising Stars seeks to serve as a safe haven and a resource outlet for young people. Among the services and programs the organization wants to continue to provide and expand, include offering students and families financial assistance; providing school supplies at annual back to school drives; growing their annual holiday turkey drives and expanding academic tutoring, as well as offering trusted adult non-parental counseling and support, college preparation and mentorship.
