JUNE TESTING! Hello to our martial arts family at ADVANCE! We're going to divide testing up into smaller groups (under 20) to try and maintain a degree of social distancing. We will be doing testing the whole first week of June, one group per weekday from 6:30 - 7:30. Tiny Tigers = Monday June 1th, 6:30... Tigers = Tuesday June 2th, 6:30 Beginners Under 13 = Wednesday June 3th, 6:30 BBC Under 13 = Thursday June 4th, 6:30 13+; = Friday June 5th, 6:30 If you are not sure you have enough classes, get in touch with Master Seth!

Here today at the demonstration in memory of Ahmaud Arbery who was gunned down in February by vigilantes - for jogging through the neighborhood. It is up to all of us to make sure justice is served. We can't bring him back, but we can honor his memory.

A funny thing happened on the way to the 2020. Not ‘funny ha ha’ but, well, peculiar. Just like life. Although, 2019 ended quite nicely with my Washington Nationals winning the world series, it kind of slid off the road, for us, when we found out that my wife had ovarian cancer. Initially it was diagnosed as pancreatic, but thanks to Tony Moran, an oncologist here in Brunswick and Matt Robinson, a Rockstar surgeon at Mayo in Jax, Sherry is recovering. So, we met it head on an...d after 8 rounds of chemo and surgery, the future looked bright.until Captain Trips (a nod to Stephen King’s The Stand, go read it.) reared it’s ugly head in our nation and now, half of 2020 has been postponed. While I had planned, at some point, to go to a sort of part time basis, picking up kids, teaching a class or two, I realized with the fragility of getting older and different life changes that I was ready to quit working and enjoy my home and family. The kids are grown, Chris is a union pipefitter/welder getting ready to hit the road, and Wendy has one more year of school, and then she will begin her career and plans on traveling as well. My grandson is growing fast and once this shelter thing lifts, I want to be able to go hang with him. I’ll continue to train and will pop in from time to time and will be like Steve Van Zandt’s Consigliere in The Sopranos for Master Seth, except I don’t own the ‘Bada Bing’. Thank you Seth for your patience with my ‘italianess’, and for insight into, and training within various Martial Arts that are invaluable. I can tell you it has been an honor and an absolute ball to work with your children, and of course you adult students (a number of whom are one and the same.) I have been blessed to make some life long friends through teaching, and those of you who have my number, by all means please text me, but if my speech is slurred, then it means you have some catching up to do. So now I can go sit on the porch and read, go for a run, go to the gym if that becomes a thing again, build that deck, Heck, go to martial arts class, play with the dogs, watch a movie, plug into the amp and play.LOUD, and not HAVE to be anywhere. To all of you old school students that have kept in touch, keep it up. You have served as a reminder that I made the right decision back in 2002 to dive in here and get the after-school program up and running. I’m also going to start posting some of the numerous pictures I’ve accumulated over the past 22 years, so if you don’t have me on FB or Instagram, add me. I’m not quite riding off into the sunset as much as I’m just taking more time to watch it. See more

Limited group classes will be starting back on Monday, April 27th! We will still be doing online classes for those who'd like to play it safe; but we will have a group class from 5:30-6:30 Monday through Friday, with Master Seth and Mr. Eli on hand to divide the groups. See you there! Tang Soo!
