[Wednesday, November 11th 3:55 PM] The most recent forecast update from the National Hurricane Center has Eta tracking even further east and south than the prev...ious forecast. A large part of the uncertainty with the track forecast up until this point was the fairly weak atmospheric steering flow. Rainfall totals across north and central Georgia have decreased overall as a result of the track shift; however, 13 inches of rain remain a possibility mainly across eastern Georgia. Should Eta's track shift further east and/or south in the next day, rainfall totals may decrease further. #gawx See more

The Sandy Springs Police Department would like to remind residents to be aware of unethical contractors taking advantage of the damages caused by hurricane Zeta.... It is typical for scammers to go door-to-door offering to help get your property repaired. How can a homeowner avoid becoming a victim from these scammers? -Don’t hire people who drop off flyers in your mailbox or ring your door bell and tell you your roof or gutter need fixing -Ask candidates for a list of the last 10 jobs they did and how you can get in touch with those homeowners to verify. -Ask what kind of insurance each contractor carries -Get more than one estimate -Don’t be pushed into signing a contract right away -Get everything in writing -Ask to see the contractor’s driver’s license and write down the number and license plate on his or her vehicle -Perform a google search of the contractor and or company’s name -Check the Better Business Bureau for information on the contractor and or company These storm chasers usually offer to pay your homeowner’s insurance deductible for you so they can begin doing work on your roof and bill your insurer for it. This might sound like a great and convenient idea, but it could be dangerous to you and your wallet. Remember, if its too good to be true... it’s usually not a good idea. We ask you PLEASE share this post, especially with your elderly loved ones who are often targeted and become victims of these types of scam. #scams #scamalerts #scamalert #hurricanezeta #hurricanezeta2020 #beware #elderlylovedones

Election security is led by state and county officials. However, the City of Atlanta Police Department is coordinating with local, state, and federal law enforc...ement agencies to provide assistance at polling places and to provide support across the city should post-election protests or illegal activity occur. APD is monitoring real-time election day activity through our Joint Operations Center, and will continue to monitor post-election day activity as warranted. At present, there are no verified threats to indicate that violent activity is being planned. If activity begins to occur, APD is prepared to respond quickly to prospective protests or illegal and violent activity, in coordination with partnering local, state and federal law enforcement officials. #Election2020 #Elections2020 #elections #ElectionNight #Atlanta See more
