Shin splints is a term to describe pain and swelling in the front of the lower legs. The pain usually appears after repetitive activities, such as running or walking. Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD)..What is it PAD is atherosclerosis, a build-up of cholesterol and fatty deposits (plaque) which narrows or blocks blood flow to the arteries leading to the arms, legs and feet. Achilles tendonitis is an inflammation of the Achilles tendon. An "overuse" disorder, Achilles tendonitis is usually caused by a sudden increase of a repetitive activity.
