Have you ever been on a long trip and had to patiently wait to get to your destination? That is what Joseph had to do as he and Mary traveled to Bethlehem!

We find a great example of patience when the Angel told Mary that she was having a baby, Jesus! What are you patiently waiting for this Advent season?

Prince of Peace is one of the many names of Jesus that we find in the Bible. He came into the word to bring us peace. What other names of Jesus stand out to you?

God is our refuge, a place where we find peace! Where do you go to find peace?

We are jumping into the Fruit of Peace this month! Using Wikki sticks, create something that reminds you of peace!

We find peace in knowing that God provides us with what we need, just like He does for the birds and the flowers!

Advent begins on Sunday, November 29! We are excited to offer a Family Advent Devotion titled The Way to the Manger. The devotional includes a daily Scripture, a prayer, and sticker to place on the poster map of Bethlehem. Devotions can be picked up between 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday at the church. They can also be picked up on Wednesdays when you come for Children’s Music/Route 56 or on Sundays when you come for worship.

Our fourth lesson on the Fruit of Joy is about Paul and Silas who were singing and rejoicing while in prison. What is something you do to find joy?

Joseph and how family both experienced great joy when they were reunited in Egypt! Who brings you joy every time you see them?

When Jesus was baptized, God spoke from heaven and said This is my Son! He had been chosen and marked by my love! He is the great joy of my life! That is how He feels about you too! You bring Him Joy!

This is our first week on the Fruit of Joy! We look forward to seeing you this Sunday from 1:00-2:00 p.m. for our Sunday school materials pick up!

Meet Mr. Josh Luke: Hi everyone! I’m Josh Luke, and I’m so excited to be working with the Children’s Music Ministry again this year! I’ve been a member of Athens First UMC for about 8 years now, and my wife and I were married here in 2014. We have a daughter, Claudia, and two dogs, Penny and Sadie. I’m also the music teacher at Rocky Branch Elementary School in Oconee County. Just like school, things will certainly look different for us this fall, but I know we can make some awesome music together and have lots of fun along the way! We are so thankful for Mr. Josh!

We all know and love Ms. Janis! Our organist, Director of the Wesleyan Youth Choir, and Director of RT 56 music she is full of many gifts and talents and is a great friend and leader of ours!

Meet Jacob! Jacob has been a leader with Route 56 for three years too. Jacob is an INCREDIBLE teacher and faithful friend to our students he makes everything more fun!

Our Love story this week is the Parable of the Lost Sheep! The shepherd left the 99 sheep behind for the one who was lost because he loved him so much! That’s how much Jesus loves us!
