You have scheduled your appointment for your imaging exam. Now what? Depending on your exam, there may be special preparation involved. If you are receiving an MRI exam, eat and drink normally. And follow your prescribed medication dosing unless your doctor advises otherwise. Dress in loose, comfortable clothes with no metal snaps or zippers.... If you are receiving a CT Scan, your preparation will depend upon your exam type, medical history and whether or not you will need a contrast dye. These dyes contain iodine, which illuminates certain tissues and helps radiologists see finer details in organs, bones, and blood vessels. If your exam requires contrast dye, your American Health Imaging center will give you instructions on how to prepare. f you are experiencing tightness, pain, or weakness in a muscle, you may be suffering from a muscle strain or tear. But what is the difference? Muscle strains are common injuries, and they occur on a spectrum. At one end is the mildest type of strain, which is simply a muscle that stretched too far. ... At the other end of the spectrum, however, lies a more serious injurya fully torn muscle (muscles can also undergo partial tears). Differentiating between a muscle strain vs. tear is really a question of what type of strain has occurredmild, moderate or severe. A Grade I strain is a mild injury with minimal stretching or tearing of the muscle fiber. If you have this type of strain, the site of the injury may be tender, but the muscle hasn’t lost any strength. A Grade II strain is more painful than a Grade I injury because more muscle fibers are stretched or torn, but some fibers are unaffected. In addition to pain, you may notice a bruise, swelling and loss of strength in the area. A Grade III strain is a complete tear of the muscle. Did you feel a pop when the injury occurred? If so, you may have a Grade III strain, which can cause intense pain, swelling, trouble moving the affected joint or limb, and a visible dip in the skin.
