Update on Matt.

I used Gabby during this picture that was taken in Ecuador a few years ago. I told her to smile in front of the bike! The picture I was really trying to take wa...s Matt talking to complete strangers but they were his medical community and if I remember right he was showing them pictures of his aircraft and what ambulances looked like in the states. He does not meet a stranger. I should have updated yesterday but I was preparing and then driving to Jacksonville. It may be a day or two before I can get in but I am here if they call. I am staying with his cousin and her husband. Within 10 minutes of Matt getting to Mayo I was on the phone with his Dr. and giving consent for the procedure to prepare him for Ecmo. He was done with that before 11 am. Another Dr. called me around 1 pm. When he arrived his labs were life threatening. He told me he would not have made it another day. He had been retaining CO2 for several days. The normal for that is between 35-45 The previous day it was in the high 70s. When he arrived at Mayo it was 174!! He said he was looking really good on the Ecmo. They had also removed the paralytic. The Dr. also told me there is a chance that he can heal on his own. But if not, he is a perfect candidate for a lung transplant. A nurse called me a few hours later and said he was doing really good. The plan for today is to put in a trach and begin waking him up. This may take some time due to the length of time he has been sedated. They did an ultrasound of legs and there are no blood clots. I will update again today when I hear from them and give consent for the trach but I wanted to let you all know the progress that is being made. I can’t tell you all of the God things that have happened over the last few days. He is at work in the body of Matt Rogers. Looking at the map of the opening of the skies to get him to Mayo gives me chills. The blue line in the bottom map is the flight path. He has a very long road ahead of him but with the army praying for him, I am believing in complete restoration. And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. -Philippians 1:6 #IBelieve #MattStrong
