We’d like to thank everyone that came out and made the Knuckle Sandwich workday at Allatoona Creek Park such a huge success. Over 40 volunteers showed up and br...aved the frigid morning temps to help fix up some of our beloved freeride lines. It was great seeing so many new faces and it was pretty amazing how much work was accomplished in just a few hours. 2021 is going to be an awesome year for our chapter and for trails in the metro area. Get involved and make a difference. Workdays happen at Toona every 3rd Saturday of the month and we’d love to see you out there. See more

People often ask why the trails at Allatoona Creek Park are closed even though the sun is out and it hasn’t rained in a few days. The reason is that the ground ...holds lots of water this time of year, especially when the temps drop below freezing at night. If your tire or shoe leaves a rut, then you are damaging the trail and creating more work for our volunteers. Please stay off the singletrack trails whenever they are closed. Failure to do so may cause permanent trail closures. One example over at Pitner Road Bike Park is the big practice jumps. The 1st photo was taken on 1/6/21 and the 2nd was taken on 1/13/21. The trails were closed during that period but somehow this feature got destroyed. This line will probably have to be leveled and completely rebuilt which requires money and time.

We’re excited to work with the guys at Georgia MTB Trail Volunteer & Builder Support on a collaborative project to help restore our flow lines and free-ride areas. For the first project, we’ll be focusing on fixing up Knuckle Sandwich. Come be a part of a new chapter for our trails.

Due to the saturated soil and hard freeze Toona will remain closed on Saturday. We are in a freeze/thaw cycle which is damaging to the tread. We will assess the trails again Saturday evening to see if we can open on Sunday.

Merry Christmas.

Allatoona Creek Park 21.12.2020

Due to an already saturated ground and possible freezing temps overnight, expect the singletrack at Allatoona Creek Park and Pitner Road Bike Park to be closed ...tomorrow. Riding in these conditions causes ruts that are difficult and time consuming for our volunteers to repair. Please stay off the trails. We will reassess the situation on Sunday. The trail status is always up to date at www.sorbawestgeorgia.org Update: It’s definitely too wet to open Sunday.

Special shout out to our sponsors Free-Flite Bicycles, Mulberry Gap - Adventure Basecamp, and Art's Bagels & More. AND as always BIG thanks to Cobb County Parks - Natural Resource Management for all their hardwork keeping our trails so awesome.
