Good Morning All, I hope everyone is doing well. Today would be the normal virtual support group, but due to a conflict in my schedule I am not able to facilitate this morning. Pardon me, can I ask you a question? Lets say one day you wake up and everything is going great and during your day at work you get a phone call from your loved one saying they need help, they are lost. What will you do? Do you shrug your shoulders and pass it off as they are just tired or such? Or do you recognize a symptom of possibly something a lot more complicated? What will you do when you start forgetting small things and then big important things? See there could be l...ogical reasons for all these things to happen, or the one thing you think that will never happen. That's right the "A" word, Alzheimer's!! If this is the case, will you know what to do, who to see, or how to handle it? Well, let me tell you, when my husband was diagnosed with Dementia which Alzheimer's is a part of, I sure didn't. That's why today it is so important to raise awareness of a disease that over 5.2 million people in the U.S. are battling. You see as of right now there is no cure and no sure fire way to slow down its fast and awful progression! You ask why I am telling this to you? You didn't know about this disease before I told you, did you? See, it's called raising awareness!! In 2 days it will be September, and September is Alzheimer's Awareness Month. I am trying to help raise awareness by spreading the word. We need a cure and we needed it years ago! All it takes is a few seconds to tell someone else and we can start a chain reaction.
