Today's Wisdom: I have identified four questions that help me discern if someone has a motive to lie. (1) Are they covering up a crime, a misdeed, or a shameful... act? (2) Are they making themselves look better than they are in order to receive a benefit or to advance their interests? (3) Are they motivated by anger or greed to cause harm for personal gain? (4) Are they seeking power or control over other people? The answer to these questions will reveal whether a person has a motivation to lie. If I discover the individual has a motivation to lie, then, I will wait for independent corroboration before believing them. See more

Today's Wisdom: This morning I considered the awesome image of a black man swearing a white woman to join him as a justice of the Supreme Court of the United St...ates to defend the constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic. When the constitution was ratified, that black man would have been a slave, and that white woman would not have been able to vote. Today, they both sit on the highest court of the land with the legal and constitutional authority to judge all matters of law in the United States. Politics aside, imagine that picture for one second, and ask yourselves, where else in the world could that moment have been possible? See more

Today's Wisdom: I have several rules for living. One if them goes like this: faithfulness and truthfulness are not promises, they are actions. Thus, I have doub...ts about the person who says: "my word is as good as gold." Why do I have doubts? Well, if your word is as good as gold, then, it will be easy to see the evidence. This is the beauty of actions--they are self-evident. God is not interested in empty rhetoric. He is interested in substantive good works that honor His character. Words do not cost us anything, but doing good for others can cost us everything. Thus, Jesus said, "if you want to be my disciple, take up the cross and follow me." He did not say, "please, promise to follow me." He said, "get off your rocker and start moving." Good as gold? Then, let me see. See more

Today's Wisdom: There are very few things more annoying than being lectured by someone who is poorly informed regarding the subject at hand. Just because you re...ad an article on the internet or listened to a Youtube video, does not mean you are the resident expert. For this reason, I would encourage you to never assume that your readers or listeners are ignorant or incapable of grasping your message. This attitude is not only insulting to the audience, it could be terribly embarrassing for you if someone decides to challenge your assumptions. See more

Today's Wisdom: Have you ever heard or read about people who claim that the truth does not exist or that it is relative? Plenty of times. Have you ever heard or... read those same people claim that their lives are founded upon falsehoods? Nope. Never. Have you wondered why that is? Well, the reason those people don't ground their lives on lies is because even those liars are smart enough to know that building their lives upon lies is a destructive proposition. So, when these liars say that the truth does not exist, recognize their statements for what they are--lies. Because if the truth does not exist, whatever they are saying cannot be true. So, why, then, do they say that the truth does not exist? The answer is quite simple. They lie to impress and to deceive the gullible in order to accumulate power. See more

Today's Wisdom: Spiritual blindness permeates the soul and intellect of those who reject Jesus Christ as the Lord of their lives. Unfortunately, spiritual blind...ness is not exclusive to unbelievers. When Christians allow worldly philosophical or political ideologies to become influencing agents on their Christian worldview, their spirits become tainted by the lies inherent in those philosophies, and they too will make choices that are more reflective of worldly wisdom than of the biblical wisdom that is grounded upon God's character. Today's Wisdom: Only the Christian ethic expects and demands a strict adherence to the truth. In Christianity, the truth is rooted in the character of the God o...f the Bible, and it is a non-negotiable imperative. When Christians forget or ignore that God is the foundation for all truth, they become as corrupted and corruptible as the rest of the unbelieving world. See more

Today's Wisdom: The wise makes deals in which all the parties involved come out winners. The fool makes deals in which all the parties involved end up worse off... than before the deal. If you don't want to be ruled by fools, pay attention to the unintended consequences of any proposed idea or philosophy, and never follow anyone whose good intentions are not congruent with their actions. Today's Wisdom: God's moral character and laws are as immutable and unchanging as any of the physical laws we live on a daily basis. The consequences of violati...ng physical laws is physical death, and the violation of God's moral laws is spiritual death, or eternal separation from God unless we accept Jesus's gift of reconciliation with God and eternal life. Today's Wisdom: Never trust anyone who expects you to make sacrifices they are unwilling to make in their personal lives. Example: You should redistribute your wealth, but they are not willing to redistribute theirs.
