The parasites that prey on our pets do not adhere to stay-at-home directives. In fact, they consider warm weather as an invitation to treat animals like an all-you-can-eat buffet. This is particularly true of heartworm, deadly parasites carried by mosquitos that live in a dog or cat’s heart, lungs, and blood vessels. Because they constrict blood flow, they can damage internal organs and cause lung disease and heart failure. Read more on out blog below about the dangers of heartworms and the importance of protecting your pet all year long.
