This Friday wrap up is a day late! I had a closing yesterday for some dear clients who have become friends; I helped them purchase a Sea Palms condominium that was For Sale By Owner. I absolutely understand the instinct to try to sell one’s own property without paying for the help of a real estate agent. So often, however, the FSBO seller is at a disadvantage in marketing his property, and ends up making less money than he would have if they had hired a professional, even con...sidering the commission. And the disadvantages to the FSBO seller continue after the house is under contract, and even as the closing approaches. Friday August 7 Weekly Wrap Up This was a very special week for me as a real estate agent. A dear friend of mine had entrusted me with the sale of her house on the mainland (Brunswick, Georgia.) Through no fault of hers we went through a number of contracts before we found a buyer who was able to close, and the process was much longer and more dramatic than it should have been. A cash buyer finally emerged, and the house was sold yesterday. Hooray! The only downside is that I... will miss having a reason to communicate with Leigh Anne on a regular basis. I also am proud to tell you all that I took some time while sheltering at home to get my ePro certification! This nationally recognized REALTOR designation trained me to market properties in the most up-to-date ways (to help my sellers); and it also trained me to help my clients avoid the electronic fraudsters who unfortunately prey on buyers (in particular) around closing time. Friday July 31 Weekly Wrap Up Real estate has been moving on the island this summer, especially in certain price ranges and on certain parts of the island, but things are slowing down a bit from the frenzy at the beginning of the summer. Buyers are continuing to look for properties that are priced correctly and that have space for family members. Among many things this week, I helped a seller and some buyers prepare for closings in early August.
