During these times a private instrument making workshop may be the beat option. We haven’t offered any group workshops this year, but we still offer personal workshops for those interested. https://www.archaicroots.com//personal-visionary-immersion/

Good Morning from the Craft Shop! November is Native American Heritage Month, and the Craft Shop is thrilled to highlight the work of 3rd generation Cherokee po...tter Gina Myers. Gina is the granddaughter and namesake of renowned Cherokee potter Amanda Sequoyah Swimmer, who contributed to the preservation of Southern Appalachian history, culture, and craft stewarding time-honored traditions into the next generations. She received The NC Folk Heritage Award in 1994, received The Mountain Heritage Award from Western Carolina University in 2009, and was Named Beloved Woman of the Eastern Band of Cherokee in February 2018, before her passing later that year. She taught her daughter Merina (Swimmer) Myers her pottery traditions who in turn passed on those same traditions to her daughter Gina. Gina is an emerging local artist whose culture and history play a defining role in how she signs her work, using her mother’s family name of Swimmer to honor her Native American heritage and carry her family name forward through this traditional artform. Gina’s pots are hand built and burned in an open fire, depending on the wood used her pots will display a variety of natural colors and sheens. Her pots are decorated using traditional patterns which are stamped or applied by hand.
