Damage from Marriott's Cove, St Thomas VI. # Hurricane Irma. All palm trees severed in half, some of the windows blown out, we had water on all our floors...but... we were lucky. Marriott's Frenchman's Reef took the brunt of the storm. Part of the hotel will be condemned I am sure. Large stucco pieces from the walls around the ground, sheet metal all over and a lot of water damage. We lost electricity and cell power sometime during the storm. Words cannot express how grateful we are to the Marriott staff. For the next 3 days they held us all together. Feeding us 3 meals a day, keeping us updated on the condition of the island and keeping our spirits high! (Even though many of them had totally lost their homes to the hurricane.) Thank you to everyone of you. Godspeed to you and your families . Three days later (getting low on food and water) we were told that Marriott hired a ship to evacuate us to Porto Rico. The staff put together about a 70 car caravan to move us from our location to the port with the National Guard leading the way. This was the first time we saw the other parts of the island . Telephone poles snapped in half with the lines laying in the street. The airport was demolished and the hospital's roof was gone. Homes in rubble... it will take years to rebuild! Thank you Marriott for all you did and are still doing for us! God bless you!
