Instead of dressing up as ghouls, goblins, or gory monsters, encourage your kids to dress as SAINTS or HOLY PEOPLE for #Halloween! More inspiration on our Insta...gram: https://www.instagram.com/ewtnmedia/ Not all communities have #AllSaintsDay events, but your family can be an inspiration! And if you DO have All Saints Day celebrations, be sure to attend and joyfully honor the heroes of our faith! #EWTN #Catholic P.S. "Hello All! And God bless you! Just a quick response to the recent kerfuffle concerning Pope Francis and civil unions for homosexual couples. Because this one is really quite simple, I can do this in eight short points."

Here's what Pope Francis actually said, and it's not about Gay Marriage: Gay People have the right to be part of the family. They’re children of God and have a... right to a family. This is not stating they have the right to have to start a family with children, just that they have a right to belong You can’t kick anyone out of the family, or make life impossible for that reason. You can’t just throw someone out of your family because they are gay, or make their life miserable because they are gay. His focus is not on gay people starting families in gay marriage, but on people who have rejected or disowned loved ones for being gay. What we have to do is a law of civil life. They have a right to be covered legally. In the language he was speaking, Spanish, the words were convivencia civil- civil co-existence. This isn’t about Civil Unions or civil marriage, but about protecting gay people from abuse and social rejection in their own family circles. Isn’t this something President Trump has signed into law, or called for across the world as well? All this says is: 1) Pope Francis is defending something the Church has always defended- the dignity of the people - something Jesus did when he conversed with sinners and the lame of all kinds. He is calling for civil laws to protect homosexuals from mistreatment in their own family environment, who are often rejected by their own parents, brothers, sisters, and family members. 2) Pope Francis did not communicate his message clearly, and he does not have the media savvy to know how the media spins things. This in itself is frustrating about our Pope. 3) Pope Francis was misunderstood, misquoted, mistranslated, misinterpreted 4) Pope Francis is speaking out of personal opinion. That doesn’t change Church Teaching, especially one that the Church itself cannot change. the teaching on Marriage is revealed to us by God. It doesn’t have the freedom of changing it. 5) Get official Catholic Church Teaching from the Catechism, not from the New York Times. They don’t know the difference, They’re not news anymore, they’re spin doctors.
