New book alert! We are excited about these new fiction and non-fiction books for children, teens and adults! The library system received a grant from Georgia Humanities and National Endowment for the Humanities as part of the CARES Act economic stabilization plan of 2020, which enabled us to purchase several titles for each of our 11 library branches. The books focus on equality, inclusion and diversity and will be incorporated into storytimes, book club meetings and other programming. Swipe through to see just a few of the new titles, and look for them on the shelves at your local Athens Regional Library System branch soon! #EngagingCommunities

WHO ARE DOOLEY AND BALDWIN? Dooley & Baldwin are a brand new duo. Although experienced musicians and performers, Ashton Dooley and Norman Baldwin first gathered to write music no less than a year ago. Since then, they have quietly crafted 40 songs and, given the covid pandemic, picked the worst moment in modern history to debut their music that covers no less than three genresalternative rock, pop, and country. Ashton Dooley has performed primarily in the breweries and c...offee shops of his former hometown of Wilmington, North Carolina. He is the son of the late Bill Dooley and the nephew of Vince Dooley. Ashton is currently completing a Ph.D. program in Sports Pedagogy at The University of Georgia. Norman Baldwin is a songwriter and front man who entertained University of Alabama students for 11 years before returning to Athens a year ago. He has sung for Simon Cowell on the X Factor, is the son of a UGA professor, and a relative of Abraham Baldwin, founder of UGA. Dr. Baldwin is a retired political science professor. https://www.instagram.com/dooleyandbaldwin/ https://soundcloud.com/dooley-baldwin
