AthHalf Half Marathon

Thank you, Athens! It's been a challenging year for everyone, but with your support, we persevered. Like many other organizations, 2020 forced AthFest Educates ...to both adapt and cancel our annual plans. However, when it came to our mission of supporting high-quality music and arts education for Athens youth, we refused to compromise. In September 2020, as planned, AthFest Educates awarded over $40,000 to K 12 music and arts educators in our community to bring in-person and web-based music and arts experiences to Athens students for the 2020 2021 school year. We needed your help to take on 2020 and its challenges, and you were there. Thank you to our donors, AthHalf runners, event sponsors, and auction bidders. We truly couldn't have done it without you! Envision Athens and the Athens Clarke County Department of Economic Development are thrilled to share the Athens Creatives Directory, which functions as a virtual one stop shop for local art purchases, as well as providing a place for artists to connect and build a professional network. Building a profile is a no cost endeavor, and has already linked artists to opportunity to make a living through creativity. The directory aims to represent every creative voice in our community, and each artist doing business in Athens-Clarke County, so if you’re a creative sign up today!

If you haven't submitted your finish time for your 2020 virtual AthHalf, there's still time! Registered participants have until Dec. 31, 2020 to submit their finish time for their half marathon and/or 5K. If you haven't run your race yet, get out there! You got this, AthHalf-ers!

We know y’all support art in our community. The Georgia Museum of Art at the University of Georgia is back open with free timed tickets Thursday through Sunday. Become a Friend of the Museum for free at jointhemuseum.org and stay in the loop about all their offerings!

AthHalfers are THE BEST! Our deepest gratitude to the over 600 people who participated in the Virtual AthHalf Half Marathon and/or 5K! Congratulations to the top finishers and to each and every one of you who got out there and did it! And big thanks to those of you who came out to Southern Brewing Company yesterday for the Finish Line Celebration to pick up your hard earned race swag! We enjoyed seeing your smiling faces and celebrating your accomplishment with you. Thanks... to THE HOBOHEMIANS, FISHBUG and Five Eight for the killer music and to Southern Brewing for their long-standing support and for hosting the event in a place where we could safely gather.
