In today’s video we are bringing you information on the pull-up. How can you get your first pull up? It’s a tough goal to hit, but there are several ways to effectively scale this movement so you can build strength and nail that goal. If you're able to knock out 2-3 pull-ups but you really want to build a solid base of strength, you can still give these progressions a try and really hone in on your pull-up efficiency. If you’ve got a TRX strap, a band and/or a bench, give these progressions a try and let us know when you get your first pull up! Give these a try. If you're still having problems, give us a call at 470-355-2106 or email us at [email protected].

Today's video is for those folks having pain with push ups, cleans, etc. These exercises combine two different movements so there is a lot going on. If you feel limited in these positions, we've got two simple assessments to see if you can make some adjustments to your workout. 1. If you can't bring those fists off the ground in the first assessment, there could be a restriction with either shoulder extension or external rotation. 2. You can rule out shoulder internal rot...ation with another simple assessment. If you are limited here, you can view our Shoulder Health: Shoulder Mobility video and do the Bully stretch. Doing this should help relieve that pain in the front of the shoulder. Give these a try. If you're still having problems, give us a call at 470-355-2106 or email us at [email protected]. See more

Today we're talking about shoulder health and how it relates to thoracic movements. They might not seem related, but trust us, they are! Keeping this in mind, we're going to put you through a test and re-test with some exercises in between. 1. Perform the seated turn test. 2. If you're stiff during that test, grab a pair of Yoga Tune balls and get on the ground. Work on your breathing during this position and let that upper back mobilize.... 3. Lengthen your thoracic spine. Once you get into this position, again, focus on your breathing. If you're still feeling stiff in your shoulders and thoracic spine, give us a call and we'll help you out. 470-355-2106 or reach out to us via email at [email protected]. See more

We're talking about shoulder stability, in particular in end range. We've got 3 exercises to help improve end-range shoulder stability. 1. Push- Get into a push up position at the top and think about moving from core engagement to fully extended push up engagement. 2. Pulling from end-range. Start with a pull up bar. Find some stability in the shoulders and slightly pull yourself up.... 3. Rotation at thoracic bridge. As you push yourself through think about really pushing away from the ground and not sagging. Give these a try. If you're still having problems, give us a call at 470-355-2106 or email us at [email protected]. See more

In this Shoulder Health Video Series we're covering TWO of our favorite drills to help with overall shoulder mobility. Our two movements are: 1. Banded Overhead Distraction- it's hard for most people to get overhead because it's just not required that much in daily life, therefore, most of us tend to lose this mobility so it's a really important mobility technique to work into your routine each week. 2. Banded Bully Stretch- this is a great technique to do, especially if you'...re stuck at a computer all day. This is a great technique to help open up the front of the shoulder which comes in handy with any type of pull, snatch, etc. Give these a shot and let us know what you think. If you have questions, call us at 470-355-2106 or visit our website at www.athletespotential.com.

We’re so proud of our CrossFitter turned Runner, @pescado_agua . and her loyal sidekick @irun100m . Matthew is already a badass runner but Claire had the opportunity to start training with Matthew when the pandemic started. She’s the perfect example of not being able to do something that you love, CrossFit, and adapting and overcoming. She turned what used to be time in the gym into time on the trails. She’s an absolute badass and our forever favorite #APAthlete.
