Petals A Florist 25.12.2020

Photos from a wedding last weekend at First Presbyterian church next to the Hugh Museum of Art. Blue and white with silvery blue foliage accents. The bride was able to use the church’s silver urns that were made in 1930 as a gift of thanks to the church. Look how large the altar arrangements are in the store setting on stools, but right sized they look in the sanctuary. Wreaths for the front doors welcomed the guests. We look forward to helping with the reception that has been rescheduled to next year.

Petals did its’ first full wedding since March. Held at The Stave Room this past weekend. We provided the bridal and bridesmaids’ bouquets, a boutonnière for the groom, wrist corsages, a pair of arrangements that went on barrels to frame the ceremony, decor for the welcome sign and cake flowers. The designs were done in shades of pink with an ivory accent. Blush pink dahlias were the standout bloom accented with scabiosas, ranunculus, roses and lisianthus. Thanks to everyone that helped and best wishes to the new couple.

Happy holidays to all ! Here are some photos of a holiday estate table for 22 that we decorated a few weeks ago. Fresh garland was run down the center of the table and lighted with battery powered, mini lights. Then we added in the host’s collection of Santas and embellished it all with fresh red berries, flourishes of ribbon and shinny red mercury glass balls. A truly festive and fun table. Red Santa hats were provided for the guests to get into the spirit!! It has been an incredibly busy season this year and we are all looking forward to some time off to rest and relax. Wishing everyone a healthy and happy holiday season to you and yours! Tim, Hope and the gang at Petals.

For almost 10 years Petals has ‘set the stage’ for the Georgia Tech commencement ceremonies. Again this year the fall and winter graduation was filled with blooming white poinsettia plants and a varied assortment of green plants. The presidential podium always has a beautiful gold and white fresh arrangement. Congratulations to all the grads!!

Just picked up 10 cases of farm fresh holiday greenery from the airport. Beautiful red ilex berries, camellia foliage covered with flower buds and handmade mixed garlands. It all comes direct from the grower, Oregon Roses. I have bought from them for 42 years...what a privilege to have worked with John and Margaret Treufel, the founders. The garlands are incredible...so fresh and fragrant. The ilex berries and camellia just cut off of the plants. We always try to buy direct not paying the middleman and always having the best of the season materials to work with.

Petals a florist was hard at work at Ansley Golf this weekend for a wonderful young couple’s wedding. Dusty peach and creamy ivory was the color palette. The work featured David Austin’s, Juliette roses and an eclectic collection of silver, mercury glass, candle holders. Very floral but also with an accent of silvery blue, eucalyptus foliage. The new classic but relaxed styling so popular these days.

We were able to help a bride last weekend at The Peachtree Club. The ceremony was on their Skyview Terrace...on the 28th floor overlooking Atlanta’s midtown. We used a custom built, diamond in diamond, wooden structure as the ceremony backdrop. We set it up and added a pair of modern white and black floral designs. It turned out really striking. And afterwards she gave us the backdrop!! so we have it for another special wedding. Some photos of it at the wedding and in the studio as tim Bright worked on the flowers.

What do you do when you have a group of engineers and you want them to have a crazy fun time....? A Luau of course!! And what better place than Sweetwater brewery. Hawaiin Spam sliders, great beers and pineapple upside down cake. Lots of bright tropical flowers and exotic foliage help turn The Woodlands into a paradise away. A Fun time doing the designs was had by all.

Yesterday we decorated the stage and reception for a Georgia Tech symposium featuring the director of NASA at the Biltmore Hotel. Lush green plants with blooming yellow bromeliads were set in front of the stage. Then gold hammered pots were filled with white hydrangea, yellow miniature calla lilies and yellow roses for the high boy tables at the post symposium reception. Always honored to be involved with any event at Georgia Tech one of preeminent STEM universities in the nation.
