Don't forget -- Porch Pickup started back today! Visit us at prlib.org or call 770-513-2925 to request books and an appointment to pick them up. We're also accepting returns, so you can bring back all the books you've been holding onto for weeks!
Porch pickup starts next Tuesday, January 19th! Holds may be picked up by appointment during the hours of 10 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday and between 10 am - 2 pm on Saturdays. If you are currently waiting on books, you may go ahead and call the library at 770-513-2925 to let us know your preferences.
We are happy to announce that our dropboxes are reopened and we are accepting returns of books, DVDs, and other library materials. We will still be quarantining items and removing fees when the books are actually checked in, usually 4-5 days after you drop them in the box. We will be offering porch pickup for holds beginning Tuesday, January 19th. More information on that will be posted later this week. There is still no date for resuming printing or copying at this time (we're waiting on a new copier) or when we will be able to have patrons in the building (we're waiting on inspections and shelving), but we're so excited to start serving our patrons again! We have missed you all dearly!
Enjoy our final time lapse video of the outside view of our expansion project as you wait for us to finish the inside!
Hey! We know it might look like we are open with cars in the parking lot, but it just means staff is trying frantically to put the building back together! It will still be a few more weeks as we wait for inspections, shelving to come in, and things to be reconnected. We know some of you may be getting notifications about late books, but we promise we will remove any late fees when the books are returned. We will open our dropboxes back up soon. While you wait, for account help you can call our Winder location, now back open, at 770-867-2762, or email our library manager Bel at [email protected]. We miss you and hope to see you all really soon!
In case you’re wondering why we’re still closed . . . The outside looks done, but the inside looks like this as we prepare for new carpet!

We are incredibly proud of Auburn Mayor Linda Blechinger for being chosen as the Barrow Chamber of Commerce Businesswoman of the Year.
We're looking good! On the outside, at least -- the inside is still a work in progress. The interior study rooms are still being worked on, so we're going to be closed for a while longer. We know this is inconvenient, but we promise it will be worth it!
Our dinosaurs are waiting impatiently for us to open as well so they can visit, but while we all wait, here’s some other dinosaur mischief in progress.
Brick is up on the outside and the back sitting area is taking shape. What you can't see is all the chaos on the inside!
New eBOOks - special spooky edition!
Barrow County is currently under a tropical storm warning. Remnants of hurricane Zeta are expected to impact Barrow County late today. Heavy rains and high wind...s up to 50 mph are expected well into Thursday. The heaviest parts of the storm are expected to hit us early Thursday morning. Prepare by securing loose outdoor items. Also, be on the lookout for road hazards such as tree debris and flooding in low-lying areas. Watch your local news and our Facebook page for important updates regarding this impending situation. In case anyone is wondering what the library looks like on the inside - this is why we’re closed It will be beautiful when it’s done, we promise!
We have windows and doors! The brick is going up on the outside! The study rooms on the inside are taking shape! It's so exciting to see our library taking shape.
New eBooks this week! We might still be closed but Libby is available 24/7 to help you find a great book!
The roof is finally done and looks great! The construction crew is doing some interior work over the next few weeks, creating new study rooms, and so we are temporarily completely closed. Keep watching our Facebook page for updates!
Latest update! A lot of the work has been moved inside, so we're not seeing as much exterior change. Staff won't be in the building for the next few weeks while study rooms are being built.
Sharing from our Friends in the Flint River Library System this helpful chart on how to get started with the Libby or Overdrive apps on your device. Go forth and read all the eBooks while you wait for our construction to be done!
Since staff will not be able to access the building during our next phase of construction, drop boxes will be closed. You may return library materials to another PINES library such as Braselton or Winder. No need to worry about late fines! Late fines will be removed upon check in of your items. We will miss you while we are closed and we can't wait until we can show you our new library!
We are so sorry to report that our construction crew will be starting on the interior work earlier than planned, so staff will not be able to work in the building over the next few weeks. This means that we will be closed even longer, and we will have to close down our temporary shop after the weekend since we won't be able to pull new holds, check in books, or any other regular library tasks. We know this is inconvenient and we are sorry, but our bigger library will be well worth it! Our friends at the Winder Public Library, Braselton Public Library, and other Piedmont Regional branches are ready and willing to help you with any book needs while we are closed. We miss you all and can't wait to see you again! We'll post updates here as we get more information.
