It's time for Monday at the Museum. To celebrate President's Day, Educator Harvee is reading "Duck for President" by Doreen Cronin. Enjoy!
Augusta and the 19th Amendment with Deb Presnell CSRA League of Women Voters AMH presents Augusta and the 19th Amendment by Ms. Deb Presnell, CSRA League of Women Voters. This organization for 100 years has been committed to promoting voting rights. Her talk will be about the 19th Amendment and its impact national, but also regionally. On August 17, 1920, the 19th Amendment was ratified, bringing a long and hard-fought campaign to allow women the right to vote. Born and rais...ed in Asheboro, NC, Presnell earned a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health from East Carolina University in 1974 and a Master's of Science in Public Health from the University of N. C. - Chapel Hill in 1984. She worked in Public Mental Health for the City of New York for seventeen years before marrying Ed Presnell in 2001. Presnell has served as a member of the Richmond County Board of Health and of the League of Women Voters of the CSRA since 2016 shortly after its reorganization and its treasurer for over two years. Due to the pandemic and for the safety of our visitors, this Brown Bag talk will be presented online. You can find the talk on the museum's Facebook or YouTube pages. The Brown Bag History Series is an educational lecture series provided monthly by the Augusta Museum of History. This event is FREE; donations are encouraged See more

Happy Brown Bag day! On the menu this month Hildebrandt's: German Fare in a Southern City by Luanne Hildebrandt. Luanne Hildebrandt, a native Augustan, attended Concordia University Chicago and received a Bachelor's in elementary education. Hildebrandt's was founded in 1879 by Nicholas Hildebrandt as a neighborhood grocery store. It has passed through family hands to Luanne Hildebrandt. She and her seven siblings were raised on the second floor of the store. She started working there as a child in 1960 and, after a short time as a schoolteacher, returned in 1974. Hildebrandt, who is looking forward to retirement in a few years, doesn't know what the restaurant's future holds. She has kept it going for her ancestors and her customers.

This time of year we should be packed in the streets, celebrating the Arts in the Heart festival, and one of the best components of that festival is the global village, Jennifer Bowen, VP of destination development and community engagement with CVB, said. So, the Visitors Bureau and Arts Council are bringing it all to you -- through a list of local restaurants showcasing food from around the world. It even has a category for black-owned businesses.
