Last year on this date we were just beginning what would turn out to be our wildly successful campaign, thanks to all our contributors! We are cautiously moving ahead with our next concert, which will be open to a limited audience and live-streamed. More news soon. #bachascending #livemusicreturns

A message from Laura Alward Ball on this Memorial Day about her postponed concert, "Beatles and Bach." Look for a rescheduled date in the near future.

We have paused our events until a later date when performances can safely continue. Stand by for announcements. Bach was no stranger to epidemic: "[He] wrote music that could comfort in times of distress and music that directly confronted plagues in his Cantata No. 25, titled 'There is Nothing Healthy in My Body.' He wrote it in 1723, just a year after the great plague of Marseille, France ended, leaving over 100,000 people dead. Bach's anonymous text talks of the 'world as a hospital' and 'children laid low with sickness.' A sober but lilting aria in the middle of the cantata declares, 'My plague cannot be healed by any herb or ointment, other than the balm of Gilead.'" -NPR, 13 Apr 2020

We got off to a great start with our first event in February, but our remaining 2 concerts have been postponed and will likely become part of our 2020-2021 Premier Season. All contributions provide direct support for musicians and buying local ads to help get to word out about our free concerts given as a gift to the community! #GivingTuesdayNow #bachascending

We are rescheduling "Beatles and Bach" to a future date still to be determined. It will come back in a stronger production --- Laura and Zora promise!

Craig Philip Price, Bass-Baritone has uploaded our inaugural concert from February 9. Please note it is not a professional recording but still captures the magic of his performance. Something to sustain us until we can gather for more live concerts. *Bach Ascending will keep you posted about the next two events*

SMF and Bach Ascending have been sharing info about each other's Bach related concerts. A difficult but prudent decision.
