Had the pleasure of helping a Master Sergeant initially charged at General Court-Martial which could have resulted in a Dishonorable Discharge, Reduction to E-1, and Confinement for Five Years. After aggressively working the case and negotiating with the Government, we arrived at a plea that brought the case to a Special Court-Martial, thus saving him a felony conviction. The sentencing case was a strong one for us, and the final adjudged sentence was reduction to E-7 no co...nfinement, no discharge. This individual had served with honor and valor under enemy fire multiple times. His subsequent struggles with PTSD and alcohol were considered by the court. The eventual outcome ensured justice was done and a punishment not greater than necessary was imposed.
