If you have ever driven by the funeral home and noticed the front porch light on, you may wonder one of two things, "Why is the porch light left on again?" or, "I wonder who passed." It was a tradition started by former owners and we have diligently tried to carry it on. I am sure it was started as a way to inform locals that someone in the community had passed. Today technology likely is the way most ...seek such information but we are still leaving the front porch light on. It has a deep meaning for me; it is a small sign of respect for the person who passed and their family, but it also reminds me of where I came from. It reminds me that I will always be a little "old school and sentimental," grasping on to old traditions. Towns County's funeral home is our little baby that we have been blessed to care for and serve out of, but it is as much the people of our town's as it is ours. We have simply taken a God given talent and a dream of a girl and mixed it with the age old traditions of former owners. We are small but capable, gently guiding but never pushing, strong enough to handle the weight on our shoulders but with a softness that lets people feel completely at ease leaving their loved one in our care.
