It is with heavy hearts that BCFES has learned of the passing of former Vol. Fire Chief and Ret. Bartow County EMA Director Johnny Payne. JP as he was known by many was a true leader, mentor, and Past President of the Georgia Association of Fire Chiefs. We will pass along arrangements when we have them.

Congratulations to Lt. Walter Christian and FF Evan Gossett on receiving a Letter of Commendation for their recent life saving efforts on a medical call. Recognizing that the patient had a lacerated artery, was profusely bleeding, and going into shock, they applied a tourniquet and controlled the bleeding prior to EMS arrival. Their quick actions saved the patient’s life.
