Mercer University's Clinical Mental Health Counseling program, School Counseling program, and Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling program are the recipients of the 2018 Outstanding Master’s Counselor Education Program award from the Southern region of the Association of Counselor Education and Supervision (SACES). SACES is the largest region of the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision. The Outstanding Master’s Counselor Education Program award is given to programs that educate Master’s level counseling students and demonstrate outstanding pre- service and in-service training in core and specialty counseling areas.

Mercer is now categorized as a Doctoral University with High Research Activity (R2) following the latest adjustment to the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. R2 is the second-highest level of doctoral research universities in the country. #mercerresearch

Today President Trump signed legislation authorizing new programs and funding to fight the #opioids crisis. Among the many new programs is a student loan forgi...veness program for qualified mental health professionals who work in areas where there is a shortage of people fighting substance use disorder. ACA supported this measure from its inception. Two other new programs allow National Health Service Corps participants to work in schools and other community-based settings, and create incentives for students to pursue addiction treatment-oriented careers.
