Just a reminder to everyone out there, they are a lot of you out there with some temporary connections of your house to a portable generator. PLEASE be sure to turn your main breaker in your panel OFF before connecting power from the generator so it doesn't injure or kill power company linemen. That small generator can back feed the power company transformer and put 7,200 or 12,500 volts back on the power lines. We want to keep the men and women that are working long hours in bad conditions to restore power as safe as possible. Biggers Electric & Plumbing hopes everyone is safe during this weather event.

I would like to take a minute to help customers by giving out professional advice. When it comes to using harsh chemicals like liquid fire, do not use it if you have cast iron drain pipes or the pipes are not draining at all. We have seen a good bit of the cast iron pipes that had acid products put down them be completely rotted out on the bottom. I have also had garbage disposals that the acid sit in them due to not draining leak as a hole formed due to the acid. I have seen... the finish on stainless steel sinks removed because the acid sat in them. Liquid fire and similar products are ok in pvc pipes that are draining slowly, but not in stopped up drains. If you wind up calling a plumber to unclog a drain line that has liquid fire in it, please let him know. It is going to destroy his sewer machine cable and could cause him to have acid burns. Please keep this in mind. Thanks See more

Just a reminder, it's going to be very cold tonight without a major warm up tomorrow. Then below freezing again tomorrow night. With the wind chills, pipes freezing are VERY LIKELY. Drip your faucets and put heat lamps on your well pressure switch piping. We are not going to be able to repair burst pipes for a week or so. Please be sure to take care of your pipes!!!

At Biggers Electric & Plumbing, LLC we would like to remind customers that we install water filtration systems. Point of use R/O systems and heavy metal cartridges are a cost effective way to remove arsenic, lead, and other contaminents that you ingest from your drinking water, ice, and water you cook with.
