Farm life is full of ups and downs. Most of the time, we share our happy moments with you all. Today, we’re sharing a little bit of a different story. This morning our main farm tractor caught fire without any notice or warning. No one was around, trying to crank it, and it hadn’t been used since yesterday afternoon. Luckily we were fortunate to have friends and neighbors passing by who noticed something out of the ordinary and took time out of their day to check. We’re than...kful that they stopped and called us and 911. Fortunately no one was hurt today, but it could have been a much different outcome. If you ever notice something like this on a farm that you pass, please take the time to check on the farmer, their family, and their livelihood. Because these people stopped and checked on us today, Farmer John was able to get the tractor out of our shop before the fire spread and caused an even greater loss. Another family member has been kind enough to let us borrow a tractor for everyday farm needs until we can find a way to get a new one ourselves. Sometimes things like this just happen without any explanation. This is a good reminder to always be safe, attentive, and cautious when dealing with farming equipment. Thank you to the people who called, the firefighters who came to help, and all the friends and family that have checked on us or helped us so far. We are lucky to live in a community where so many people care. Thank you!

Leah is having a great day at a local dairy show with her babies! Pumpkin placed first in her class and Frosty placed 3rd in the same class! Peaches placed second in her class as well.

Peaches, Pumpkin, and Frosty all went to the local dairy show clinic hosted by our local 4-H and Extension program this past weekend. They all 3 have grown and Leah is looking forward to showing her 3 babies at their first show soon. Here’s to hoping for blue ribbons!

We will be having another round of The Great Pumpkin Day Camp at Big Sandy Creek Dairy Farm this Saturday, October 24th. It will be from 8AM-12PM for Pre-K through 2nd grade. The cost is $50 per camper. Activities will vary from previous weeks, so if you’ve got a camper who wants to return there will be more fall fun to be had! It’s almost time! The first day we will be open for our pumpkin patch next weekend, October 3rd! As we all know, COVID has changed the way our lives and our year had looked. So we are also changing the way our pumpkin patch looks too! We will be offering a pumpkin drive-thru! You will have the opportunity to drive up, point out which pumpkin you want, and pay without ever leaving your car. We will still be offering our traditional pumpkin patch option as well. The pumpkin dri...ve-thru will be offered Friday evenings from 4-7PM and Saturday mornings from 10AM-12PM. Again, our opening day will be Saturday October 3rd! We can’t wait to see you at the farm this fall. Come out and see us to support your local farmers!
