Feb. 6 is going to be a great day! A new local Bike Shop is opening in Eatonton, GA. Congrats to Don Walker and everyone involved, can't wait to go check it out. https://www.msgrnews.com//new-bike-shop-opens-week-eatonto
When you go to a hospital after a bike crash, the hospital immediately gets to work on trying to figure out the best way to avoid using your health insurance so they can pump up their payment by taking money from your personal injury case. We fight with hospitals over their bills almost as much as we fight with insurance companies for the drivers that hit bicyclists. https://www.nytimes.com///rich-hospitals-profit-poor.html
For anyone interested in riding bikes safely in and around Cuty of Atlanta, we highly recommend this virtual bike safety class on by our friends at the Atlanta Bicycle Coalition and the Atlanta Cycling Festival. First class is Tuesday 2/2/21. https://www.atlantabike.org/virtualcitycycling_20210202
Sadly, we see this kind of callous disinterest from police all too often when they investigate bike crashes, routinely accepting excuses like "I never saw him" from drivers that they would never accept in a car vs. car crash. https://nyc.streetsblog.org//anatomy-of-a-crash-cyclist-b/
NYC is taking major steps to help people stay safe on bikes. C'mon Atlanta, you can do it too. https://www.nytimes.com//bike-brooklyn-bridge-de-blasio.ht

On this Giving Tuesday, here's a useful list of groups around Georgia who help provide bikes to kids in time for the upcoming Holidays.
Thank you Sorella Cycling for having me as a presenter at your Lunch & Learn program today. I hope the Bike Law 101 presentation was helpful
Once again, kudos to City of Brookhaven for prioritizing the safety of people over the need for cars to drive fast through their City. State of Georgia, it's your turn next. https://www.wsbtv.com//dekalb/U4FJPS7R2RCXJEEW4Z66FQE47M/
IMPORTANT NEWS FROM CITY OF BROOKHAVEN: Last night, the Brookhaven City Council passed a Vulnerable Road User ordinance to help protect the safety and wellbeing of bicyclists and pedestrians. Brookhaven City Council member Madeleine SImmons had contacted Bike Law Georgia to help correct some of the problems with the VRU ordinance that Dunwoody passed last year. The version that was passed in Brookhaven removes the victim blaming aspects that were in the original version of the law. Until the State of Georgia passes statewide legislation, these local ordinances are the best that we have. Thanks Brookhaven for prioritizing the safety of people over the convenience of drivers.
As Bike Law's celebration of Women's Cycling Day wraps up for the year, here's a fitting tribute to our amazing National Director, Rachael Maney.
Today’s feature focuses on some of my favorite people. Enjoy.
HAPPY WOMEN’S CYCLING DAY to all the amazing women in Georgia who ride to work, transport kids on bikes, carry groceries in panniers, compete in bike races, advocate for safer streets, ride in kits and ride in dresses. You are awesome!! #womenscyclingday #bikelaw #bikelawga

My friend and Bike Law colleague in Maine, Lauri Boxer Macomber, is one of the smartest and most genuine people I know, beyond just her amazing commitment to cycling advocacy. https://www.bikelaw.com/2020/10/women-on-bikes-6/
Women on Bikes Day 4: Say hi to my friend Nedra Dedwyler from @CivilBikes who is not just an amazing person but runs an incredible bike tour company that emphasizes the Civil Rights history in #Atlanta. Great way to have fun & learn at the same time
