Black Mecca of the South Tours 08.02.2021

Powerfully and with great depth, one of my sheroes , Dr. Miriam DeCosta-Willis shares the struggles, triumphs and tremendous courage of her family. In The Shoulders I Stand On: Tales of Love and Loss, we learn about the rich history of her ancestors, who were members of committed, persistent and dedicated families. They exemplify the true meaning of the African Sankofa bird, a symbol that means reaching back to help others to advance the future. This book shows the stellar example of Black excellence. It is through deep faith, education, business, farming and social justice that her family, then and NOW, remains on the battlefield for justice. It is essential reading. Please inbox her to place your order. HARAMBEE!

This isn't taught in homes, schools, churches, mosques, colleges (except http://livingstone.edu), synagogues or seminaries. One of the great Black leaders in history, The Honorable Rev. Dr. Joseph Charles Price. Although Dr. Price is rarely acknowledged today, most newspapers, national or international, from Reconstruction Era to 1893 covered him and his works. Efforts were underway to help Livingstone College become like Tuskegee Institute, at the time of his sudden death ...(39 years of age). One of his financial supporterswas prominent philanthropist Mrs. Mary Ellen Pleasant. The strongest supporter was none other than his phenomenal wife and educator, Jennie Smallwood-Price. If Dr. Price had lived to 1895, many of his contemporaries and historians agree that the Honorable Booker T. Washington would've never delivered the historic Cotton States Exposition speech in Atlanta. Dr. Price's legacy lives on at (http://livingstone.edu) in Salisbury, NC. #Salute #BlackMeccaoftheSouthTours See more
