Some tips to Conserve Your Water, Reduce Your Utility Bill: *Install low-flow shower heads, which can save up to 15 gallons of water during a 10-minute shower. *Run dishwashers only when they are full. An automatic dishwasher uses 9-12 gallons of water per wash, while hand washing dishes can use up to 20 gallons. *Turn the water off while brushing your teeth or shaving. Get in the habit of shutting off the water when it’s not actually in use.... *Check all faucets, toilets and interior pipes for leaks. Leaks waste water 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and make up about 13% of home water usage. *If you own an old toilet, consider retrofitting the tank by adding an item such as a brick or a plastic bottle with gravel to the tank to save water. *Run your washing machine with a full load. An automatic washer can use more than 30 gallons of water per cycle. *Clean your front stoop and drive the old fashioned way with a broom instead of with a hose. *Ordering replacement appliances? Visit ENERGYSTAR.gov before you buy to make sure you are purchasing an efficient appliance. *Don’t run the hose while washing your vehicle. Use a bucket to wash your car and just enough hose water for a thorough rinse. See more

Henry County Government Enacts Safer-at-Home Ordinance to Control the Spread of COVID-19 Commissioners approve shelter in place restrictions for the health and ...safety of citizens HENRY COUNTY, GA- April 1, 2020Continuing its efforts to further protect the health, safety and welfare of the Henry County community from the spread of the coronavirus, the Henry County Board of Commissioners approved a Safer at Home Ordinance, imposing shelter in place restrictions and repealing Ordinance 20-01. The action came at the Special Called meeting on April 1, which was held via videoconference. During the meeting, Chair June Wood read statements and letters of support from McDonough Mayor Billy Copeland, Stockbridge Mayor Anthony Ford, Hampton Mayor Steve Hutchison and Locust Grove Mayor Robert Price. She also detailed county efforts to address the coronavirus pandemic. Commissioners approved the ordinance which mandates that individuals living within the limits of unincorporated Henry County to stay at home, and to reasonably maintain at least six feet from any person when outside of their residence, at all times. People may leave their residences only for Essential Activities, Essential Governmental Functions and to operate Essential Businesses; the ordinance also enforces all Non-Essential businesses with a facility located in the county, to stop all activities at their respective facilities, except Minimum Basic Operations; and prohibits all public and private gatherings of any number of people taking place outside a living unit. The ordinance also enforces the cease of Non-Essential travel, including, but not limited to, travel on foot, bicycle, scooter, motorcycle, automobile or public transit, except Essential Travel and Essential Activities. Gatherings for religious worship or funerals are not prohibited. Wood reiterated that the Henry County Board of Commissioners has and is taking COVID-19 very seriously. As the concern of the COVID-19 continues throughout our nation, state and locally here in Henry County, the Board of Commissioners along with County Staff continues to do all that it can to continuously address the ever-growing concerns and changing dynamics, she said. All four city mayors also weighed-in in support of the action. "This encapsulates the spirit of solidarity and unity in this challenging time in our nation's history. The City of Stockbridge fully supports a Shelter in Place ordinance that would address the significant global implications of the COVID-19 Pandemic," said Stockbridge Mayor Anthony Ford. Locust Grove Mayor Robert Price, in a letter to the BOC stated that the Shelter At Home Ordinance is an additional tool to keep our residents from violating Social Distancing regulations and remain at home as much as possible during this terrible scourge by COVID-19. The City of McDonough recognizes the importance of all five Henry County governments making a united stand on these issues and we are proud to do our part to help us collectively to move beyond this crisis as quickly as possible, said Mayor Billy Copeland. Hampton Mayor Steve Hutchison said, The City of Hampton is in agreement with the Henry County Commissioners Ordinance to help stop the spread of COVID-19 and we will be implementing some of the same decisions. Essential Activities, Essential Governmental Functions, Essential Businesses, Minimum Basic Operations, Essential Travel and other exemptions are defined and explained in the ordinance which can be found here https://www.co.henry.ga.us//Ordinance_20-02.Shelter-In-Pla. The mandatory shelter in place ordinance will go into effect on Thursday, April 2 at 12:01 am until Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Henry County public safety will enforce the shelter in place ordinance to those who do not comply through information delivery and education. Any violation to the ordinance by businesses are subject to penalties according to the county code. For more information on Henry County Government visit henrycounty-ga.com.
