City Council President, Felicia Moore (now running for Mayor!), was involved in Atlanta’s first Tree Ordinance and is still involved as we make it better in 2021. The goal of the re-write has been to preserve more trees without impeding Atlanta’s economic success. If you want to support our vision, please call 404-330-6042 TOMORROW, on TUESDAY February 16th between 4pm and 7pm and leave a brief message saying that you support Tierson and the Citizen’s Draft! So, what makes Tierson's ordinance draft awesome? Tierson’s draft aims to: 1. Prevent so many trees from being removed from lots during development. This may at times mean less can be built on a lot. 2. Allow homeowners more flexibility in managing their own trees by allowing some trees (even over 6) to be permitted. 3. Provide more clarity on DDH (Dead, Dying, Hazardous) decisions. 4. Increase the quality of planted trees, so that more trees can thrive after planting. 5. Retain the citizen right to appeal tree removals. 6. Ensure that Tree Trust Money (which is substantial) has citizen oversight so that the funds may be used for their intended purpose. 7. Improve the access to information about trees. Let’s work together to bring the Atlanta Tree Ordinance across the finish line.
