I have struggled with the decision whether or not to use my Mother’s Death from Covid as a reason to champion the wearing of masks, but the interaction I just h...ad with a random stranger in a parking lot made the decision pretty clear to me...As I was getting in my truck (with my mask on) the guy parked next to me said, Man, I can’t wait for this mask bullshit to be over, it’s ridiculous After politely explaining to him why he had picked the wrong person to whine too, he tucked his tail between his legs and ran into the store. You see, my Mom had Lupus, and she knew that if she got Covid, it would be very tough on her, so she did EVERYTHING right. She stayed away from the general public for 2.5 months. She made masks for everyone in our family (and our extended family) and sanitized everything that came into their home. No one took Covid more seriously than her. BUT, 8 weeks or so ago, she developed a kidney infection. She tried treating it at home for close to a month, but it reached a point where her Doctor’s office sent her to the hospital for treatment...She spent 4 hours in the ER...3 bays down from a Covid Patient who was NOT wearing a mask...The next day, she went to LabCorp for bloodwork. Somewhere in there, she was infected...I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out where and when she contracted it. Masks are not worn to protect you, they are worn to protect others from you if you are an A-Symptomatic Carrier. They are not dangerous....If they were, the thousands of Doctors and Nurses spending entire 12 + hour shifts in them would be dropping like flies. I am sorry if you think that wearing a mask infringes on your civil liberties, or that you find them uncomfortable or annoying, but the life you save isn’t going to be your own, it will be the life of someone else, like my Mom.
