When there’s finally news other than old rich folks behaving badly, so you go out for a Sunday NYTbut there’s still an episode of The Crown she hasn’t watched .
YES, we are selling the oilcloth that was the surface on our largest and smallest booths. The roll is four feet wide, so tell us the length you need. Place a bid per square foot. We have a lot, so we should be able to meet most requests. No minimum bid but we reserve the right to not accept a bid ))). Bids must be sent by email to [email protected] This fabric is treated with polymers so it easily wipes clean, but that means it doesn’t drape like a tablecloth. We tacked ours underneath the table. You can also glue it.
Do Black Lives _Still Matter to you? Or was that a moment likeSave the Whales? Black and Brown Lives Still Matter to Lindsay Paroczai, who copped our cup, and we’re thrilled. #blm #buildcommunity #supportisaverb
Visiting some of our most meaningful places. Had the honor of putting a flower on #johnlewis ‘s grave, tidying it a bit, and curling the flag so it wasn’t touching the ground. #honorthebrave #goodtrouble
Our previous fave Holiday Season decor, courtesy of an old post from the righteous owner of @sisterlouisaschurch . Because we all need good laughs
When you’ve been Following the Lead of Black Women for 40 years, you tend to get carried away with the victories. Now can we ELECT and appoint more Black women to positions of power? #goodtrouble #staceyabrams #kamalaharris #keishalancebottoms nikemawilliams #atlantainfluenceseverything #yourvoteinfluenceseverything #thankyou
It’s 18 minutes to Sundown, time to light the Menorah. The Lacks have the coolest Holiday Season inflatable we’ve seen. Stephanie got up the hill a lot quicker
@johnlegend If you get bored, be sure to catch the end. Love you John Roger Stephens
Voter Suppression already, in Gwinnett County. Long run by Republicans, the County turned against Trump in the midterms. Swipe for Voter Suppression Hotlines thanks to the great folks @emory_oua
Voter Suppression in Gwinnett County. Long run by Republicans, but where many have turned against Trump. Thank you @emory_oua always on the good foot.
We honor those who have fought for the right to vote. And those of us who still do. Many of our ancestors. Soldiers who keep us free. Citizens who resist Fascism. Dr Carol Anderson of @emoryuniversity who taught us much about voter suppression. John Lewis. Poll workers. And we vote for those who can’t. Those who have died of SARS-CoV-2. Those who’ve died due to Systemic Racism and the abhorrent behavior of bad cops. If you are in a long line and want a bathroom break or just to sit in your warm car if you have one, or need to check on a loved one, email us. We will monitor it all day and happily stand in line for you.
Thank you for all your messages. With hundreds of responses, expressions of love and sadness, and many questions, we were literally overwhelmed. We didn't get 20 minutes into reading the first comments and emails that were quickly sent, before we each broke down and realized we could only read and respond in stages. We are prioritizing emails as our first responses. We ask your patience as we get back with you. In order to be clearer as we catch up, here are answers...Continue reading
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! Thanks for your support and hanging with us. But we are finally throwing in the towel, and officially CLOSING. We hope to Rise Again someday, but Trump wins this battle. His intentional incompetence at handling the Pandemic is shutting down so many of us independent small businesses. Larger corporate joints have an army of lawyers and accountants to find loopholes to make PPP work and force their landlords to discount rent. Our Landlord worked... with us but wouldn’t give us a break on rent until December. $8,000 per month rent is too high to make takeout and limited outdoor seating profitable. We got PPPbut it’s only forgiven if you bring back ALL your coworkers. We’d hoped by now we’d be back in operation with most of our team, and have most of our PPP loan forgiven. But by making Wearing Masks a Political Issue, the Administration dragged this out. Because they’ve made it a choice between Being Socially Responsible and Waving Your Personal Freedom Flag, even a vaccine won’t end this soon, since half of us are afraid to take it. The final blow is Trump’s personal refusal to take any further stimulus action, although BOTH Republicans and Dems want to. We can’t see being profitable for at least another nine months. We don’t see @emoryuniversity coming back full strength in January. If you miss us, PLEASE VOTE THEM OUT! And please continue to wear masks and think of others. Enlightened self-interest is almost dead in this country. We don’t know what we are going to do, after selling off what equipment and supplies we can (got to riseatl.com to see our new and used wares still for sake). Later we will post decor items and books we will sell to raise money for Rise-n-Dine 2.0 and repay the PPP Loan money we used for rent. Maybe we will keep this page to share Socially Responsible activity and Social Justice initiatives. George is already consulting with a small biz and helping a friend with theirs, but Stephanie is gonna take a break after 13 years of Rising-n-Dining. We’re open to suggestions and opportunities, whether they pay or allow us to give back to the Rise Community we so love. Stay strong, stay true, do no harm and be You. We love you and more than Sad, we are Glad to have had the joy of creating a place that welcomed all and getting to know so many of you. Godspeed! You can always reach us at [email protected] See more
In case anyone still does not understand Whitefolk Privilrge
Gutted. We let Stephanie’s Best Friend of 15 years, Stella, pass on today. And woke up to photos of the White House Lawn being used for a super-seeding, super-spreading event for the nations number one used car dealer On the same watch Our King passed and we had no idea he was even fighting that battle. Can we be done with this? Please? @ Rise -n- Dine at Emory Village
PLEASE FOLLOW THIS STORY. A white man suspected of shooting at Wisconsin protestors is chased down the street. He seems to trip on his own. A couple of protestors try and keep him down. They’ve been calling for police. He sits up and fires. Someone falls and doesn’t move. He keeps shooting. Other footage shows him walking to police with hands up. They ignore him. He later gets handed a water bottle ala Dylan Roof. Rioters aren’t coming to the suburbs like the RNC sugges...ts. But armed vigilantes are coming to our streets. Spurred on by Trump’s praising of white supremacists in Charlottesville, dog-whistle tweets like When the looting starts, the shooting starts and the use of unidentified secret police in Portland. This is a natural progression that will end up with another phony Dallas-like #BLM moment. Please do everything you can to stop this. See more
White folks: Before you join the chorus of Coon and Uncle Tom, please consider this: People don’t know his story! Maybe they’ve heard he has Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personalities). But have all the haters heard that at age 6 he saw his friend grabbed and mock-hung by the KKK? We talk about Black PTSD and the health degradations (high blood pressure etc) it can cause any Black person. I can’t imagine what seeing your friend mock-hung would do to me. Can you? We will always remember Mr. Walker as a man who overcome Structural Racism and Domestic Terrorism to become one of the greatest college football players ever. #Showup
