"...the health department reached out and said we would love to use your nursing students and faculty in order to help us get the vaccine out within the community, said Brenau University Nurse Practitioner Sarah Davis. They were so excited to learn how to do something and to be a part of the solution and to be a part of getting something to fix this pandemic and assisting our community and those who are vulnerable to COVID. Thank you to all of our brave and brilliant volunteers for making our community better and safer.

While I continue to miss those of you I have not seen this semester, I am excited for the opportunity to connect each week with so many of our wonderful faculty..., staff and students who are hosting events. Thank you and keep the invitations coming! I would like to share some great news with you. Brenau University was named to the 2020 Campus Prevention Network Seal of Prevention list. This recognition means we are among a select group of universities that have been distinguished because of their excellent programs largely distanced, remote or digital focused on student safety, well-being and inclusion. I am so proud of all we do in these areas, and to everyone who helped make this happen faculty, staff and students please know that I am truly grateful. As we near Election Day, I would like to remind you to be a Brenau voter. If you have not already voted, please take the opportunity to do so. If you're planning to vote on Election Day, please have a plan for how you're going to do that. That includes, of course, staying safe and remembering to practice the three W’s wash your hands, wear a mask and watch your distance. These practices, along with getting a flu shot, will protect ourselves and each other and help ensure we can move forward with on-campus education at Brenau. Thank you and see you soon, Anne A. Skleder, President

Every year from Oct. 6-12, we celebrate National PA Week, which recognizes the PA profession and its contributions to the nation’s health. Before it was a weeklong event, National PA Day was first celebrated on Oct. 6, 1987 in honor of the 20th anniversary of the first graduating class of PAs. Oct. 6 is also the birthday of the profession’s founder Eugene A. Stead Jr., MD. This PA Week is especially significant as it falls during a global pandemic. PAs have stepped up in majo...r ways, including serving on the frontlines of the COVID-19 response. Whatever specialty or setting, PAs have put their health at risk every day to care for their patients. During this challenging time, PAs have proven themselves to be not only flexible, adaptable and collaborative - but also ESSENTIAL; essential to health care and essential to patients.

It's been wonderful to see so many of you again, if even from a distance, and welcome some new faces to Brenau. That includes our new students, some of whom I g...ot to meet at our recent drive-through check-in. You are going to make a difference at this institution. The key for this week is pride, and I am so proud of what I've seen so far with the three W's in action: wearing your masks, watching your distance and washing your hands. You are making a difference, and not just when it's convenient. You’re wearing masks at every possible time, staying mindful of signage, keeping 6 feet apart and avoiding contact with others. So thank you all for everything you are doing to ensure the health and safety of yourselves and others. Our culture of prevention married with our culture of hospitality sets us apart, and we must keep this up. I'm wishing you a wonderful semester of learning, growth and working together. I can't wait to see you in person, on Zoom and next week on my video. Have a great week, Anne A. Skleder, President
