We have wheels! Some of our kids play a sport or participate in extracurricular activities that they otherwise would not be able to without the support of our amazing parents, coaches, and volunteers! By helping with transportation to practices, they open many doors for our kids.

Talk about an all-star! For Women’s History Month this year, please join us in celebrating Althea Gibson. Like Jackie Robinson, she spent the entirety of her athletic career in constant opposition to racial prejudice. She was a trailblazing athletethe first great black player in women’s tennis! She won the American Tennis Association’s Championship 10 years in a row. When she finally was allowed to compete in the major tournaments, she became the first black player to wi...n Wimbledon and the French and U.S. Open titles! Althea Gibson went above and beyond in everything she did. Not only was she an incredibly skilled tennis player, but she also became a pro golfer, making her a well-rounded athlete. Of course, she had support from others in the national black tennis community along her journey. Dr. Johnson, her mentor, guided her into competitions with the United States Tennis Association. His help and encouragement helped her become a champion and inspiration for us all. Althea's story is a testament to the value of athletics, the importance of mentorship, and the power of perseverance. We're so excited to play a role in creating opportunities for Bartow kids to succeed. After all, we might have the next big name in sports right here in Bartow County!

Studies show that a guiding hand can lead to higher engagement in academia, lower engagement in risky behaviors, boost self-confidence, improve behavioral issues, and improve socializing skills. Books have been the gateway for knowledge for centuries now! Did you know that in GA, according to the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, 65% of 3rd-grade students can’t read proficiently? Because of this, these students are more likely to drop out of high school. As part of our tutoring services, we love to encourage students by improving their literacy. There are many inspiring and educational stories, both old and new, that can make a difference in our community. Some of our favorite books as children, like Are you there, God? It’s Me Margaret. and Jack and the Beanstalk, are timeless reads! We would love to hear what other works have inspired you and your kids.

Baseball spring training has just begun! Did you know your donations help these kids recognize their own all-star abilities through mentorship and coaching? We have already sponsored 8 kids for Spring Little League and would love to add to our numbers in the future with the help of your support! Join us in wishing a HUGE congratulations to Ashton Hagans, who just signed with the Minnesota Timberwolves! As a former mentee of Coach Pete, we're so proud of how hard Ashton has worked to get this point. Just this past September he came by to give some of our kiddos an amazing mentoring session. He's so deserving of this huge accomplishment! We're all cheering for you, Ashton, and we can't wait to see what happens next for you!
