#TattooTriviaTuesday Welcome back to another iteration of Tattoo Trivia on this fine Tuesday morning! Today, we're gonna talk about a tattoo-industry pioneer that many of you know as "Sailor Jerry." Norman Sailor Jerry Collins was born in 1911 and while his bio and contributions to the tattoo industry could take literally 20+ posts, we’ll keep this one short and save some of his other accomplishments for later! ... Among the most significant contributions to tattooing are Collins’s development of new pigments, his creation of needle formations that allowed pigment to embed into skin easier with less trauma (I think we can all say a collective "thanks, sir" for that), and was among the first in tattoo studios to utilize an autoclave for equipment sterilization (oooh, so how'd they clean that mess before?! We'll find out later!). So outside of the amazing flash pieces that fall into the traditional styles of tattooing, Sailor Jerry did SO much more for the tattoo industry!
