This CT scan shows a two-headed fawn that was found in the woods in Minnesota near the Mississippi River. The conjoined fawns’ were found by a mushroom hunter a...nd sent to University of Georgia Deer Lab. While occurring more often in domestic animals, this is incredibly rare in the wild. This is the only known case to have ever been birthed. While never viable, they were found to have been cared for by the mother until death, showing the incredible maternal instinct of a deer. Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween... Darter! The Halloween Darter may not be spooky looking, but it's appropriately named to celebrate the spookiest day of the year. Aside from h...aving Halloween in it's common name from the male's black and orange banded costume, the scientific name is Percina crypta. This fish isn't a "crypt keeper" though. The species name hints at it cryptic coloration similar to the blackbanded darter which kept it from being identified as it's own species until 2008. This colorful small darter can only be found in the Apalachicola-Chattahoochee-Flint River system. It is currently listed as a "vulnerable" species due to habitat degradation from urbanization, damming of waterways, and overall habitat quality.
