Coach Jonathan Gooden Bio Coach Jonathan Gooden is a native of Americus, Georgia. He is a graduate of Americus Sumter High School, where he also played varsit...y basketball. Coach Gooden always had a love for sports and leadership, and therefore he majored in Organizational Leadership at Valdosta State University. After graduating from Valdosta State University in 2017, Gooden pursued a Master's degree in Education from Grand Canyon University and graduated in 2020. Gooden’s passion and dedication to coaching and training is the reason he’s been training for over 12 years. This passion and dedication lead him to complete his certification to become a certified USA Youth Basketball coach. He also served as the Head Boy’s Basketball coach for Stewart County High school. Gooden is committed to ensuring young boys and girls live healthy lives and have the best guidance in their pursuit to be the best student athlete possible. Therefore, in May of 2020, Gooden launched #GoodenStrongBasketballAcademy in Americus, Ga. Through this initiative, Gooden trains boys and girls ages 5 and older to become better student-athletes that they can be.

Buena Vista Rec Department, Pinewood Derby Build Your Own Car....Thanks Mr.James Kinsey for instructing pinewood derby first annual build your own car event....Thanks Mayor Brown and City Council for allowing me to go outside the box and do something different for the Buena Vista Rec Department. Thanks the ones who came out and supported this event and volunteered their time....Thanks Pastor Jacob Franklin for being a sponsor for this event. Even though we are in a pandemic due to Covid-19 it's great to have a safe event for our youth...Many more event to come!!!!

Im so excited its going down this Saturday September 26th, Buena Vista Rec Department is hosting a event for youth ages 5-15... Boys & Girls, Pinewood Derby Build your own car, This event will take place at the Josh Gibson Center in the parking lot Saturday September 26th @9am... you can sign your child up the day of the event...Due to Covid-19 guidelines social distance will be enforced in the parking lot kids have to wear a mask.
