On Monday April 20th Gov. Kemp in a press conference stated that the first phase to restart the economy and reopen a portion of GA is Friday April 24th Barbershops among some other business are on the list that can open. While we all are supposed to have a high level of sanitation, what we are having to do if we want to reopen our shops makes our normal high level of sanitation look like child’s play. With only a 4 day notice that we could open, and having to wait another day... to get the guidelines. Which honestly it’s a lot harder to get all the supplies that we are required to have to open. While our customers get irritated expecting us to be open and ready to go like normal on the 24th. I personally feel that he jumped the gun, and at least should have given us more notice considering what we all have to do and have to buy just so we can reopen. We have to follow from the Federal government OSHA Guidelines for reopening our businesses. The state of Georgia and the Georgia State Board of Barber and Cosmetologists 28 safety guidelines. This is a very tough decision that I have to make. As of Wednesday evening, I wish I could be back on Friday 24th but right now I seriously doubt that will happen. Maybe Monday the 27th I’m unsure at this time. Not only do I want to keep ALL my customers safe but myself also. If I don’t comply with the guidelines I could be fined or shutdown. So, I’m asking every customer to please be patient as its is not going to be normal business as it has in the past. I will add additional info within the next few days or so. The City of Buford declared a State of Emergency on Wednesday March 25th because of COVID-19. Then Governor Kemp Issued the Shelter in Place Order on April 2nd and on April 8, 2020 an extension of the Order was issued until April 30, 2020 which preempts all local emergency orders related to COVID-19. ... Under the Order the State of Georgia is responsible for all aspects of implementation. The State Order also supersedes and suspends all previous County and City Orders.
