A wonderful way to use the garden this summer.

We were not able to hold our Spring Garden Expo this weekend due to the COVID-19 situation. Our vendors are small business owners who have been severely impacte...d by these circumstances. We would like to encourage you to support them while you shelter in place and follow the CDC guidelines for social distancing and cleaning. Most nurseries are considered ‘agriculture’ and are designated as essential and therefore open for business. In an effort to support our vendors we will be highlighting a vendor each day on our Facebook page and share how you can shop with them through online ordering or phone in orders with drive in/pick up, home delivery and shipping options. Please help us spread the word by sharing these posts-in your circles. Happy planting! See more

Last week the BUGS celebrated the hard work their president Hannah has dedicated to them. Recent activities included planting propagated plants, enjoying flowers from the garden, learning how to prepare food grown in the garden, beginning to grow oyster mushrooms in bags and holding a sale of plants they have propagated. The proceeds from the sale will be used to fund educational field trips.

Margaret and Tom Rasmussen, founders of the Redbud Project, led a BUGS tour of the Linwood Nature Preserve. They explained the value of our native plants and showed the BUGS around the preserve, highlighting the different ecosystems included in the preserve.

What a great day of discovery in the BUGS garden! There were vegetables harvested from the garden to sample, peanuts to harvest, an upcoming field trip to learn about native plants, flowers to arrange, caterpillars to view, and all in one meeting.
